Celebrating Culture and Strengthening Community
Last week, our College community came together for a truly memorable Multicultural Expo—a day that showcased the vibrant diversity, creativity and respect that define our students and staff. Despite the rainy weather, the atmosphere was filled with colour, music and the spirit of celebration.
Student Engagement and Cultural Pride
From the moment students arrived at the College they proudly wore their country’s colours or traditional dress, sharing stories and traditions with their peers. The Expo featured an array of student displays, including learning artefacts, interactive games, and cultural performances. Our inaugural OPACVision event was a standout, with Senior School students performing acts that celebrated their cultural backgrounds—demonstrating not only talent but also deep respect and pride in their heritage.
Throughout the day, students learned to appreciate the traditions of other cultures, fostering an environment of inclusion and understanding. The opportunity to taste foods from different cultures at lunch was a highlight, with students and staff alike enjoying flavours from around the world.
International Connections
We were delighted to welcome students from Tachibana High School in Tokyo, whose annual visit coincided with our Expo. These students shared traditional Japanese games and crafts with our Year 8 Japanese classes, creating meaningful cross-cultural exchanges and friendships.
Adding to the excitement, the Samoan Drummers group from Claymore Public School gave a special performance for our Junior School students. Their energetic drumming and cultural storytelling captivated the audience and added a unique dimension to our celebration.
Child Safety and Wellbeing at the Heart
Events like the Multicultural Expo are more than just celebrations—they are opportunities to reinforce our commitment to Child Safety and Wellbeing. Guided by the Child Safe Standards, our College ensures that every student feels safe, respected, and valued, regardless of their background. We actively promote equity, encourage student participation, and celebrate diversity as a strength.
Our wellbeing initiatives are designed to support students in all aspects of their development. By creating safe spaces for students to express themselves, learn from one another, and build positive relationships, we help every child reach their full potential.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all students, staff, families and visitors who made the Multicultural Expo such a success. Your enthusiasm, creativity and respect for one another are what make our College a truly special place.
Together, we continue to build a community where every child is safe, supported, and celebrated.
