Congratulations to our Music HSC Students

We warmly congratulate our Year 12 Music 1 students on completing the practical component of their HSC examinations. This milestone represents the culmination of years of dedication, practise, and creativity, and we commend each student for their perseverance and commitment to excellence. Performances and viva voces this year covered a wide range of repertoire, highlighting the individuality of each student. Evie performed Liquid Smooth by Mitski, a piece that explores the fleetingness and fragility of youth and beauty. Raif explored the expressive techniques in Charlie Parker’s Anthropology during his viva voce, demonstrating a strong understanding of Parker’s use of phrasing, articulation, and improvisation in the bebop style.

We also congratulate our Music 2 students—Alyse, Benham, and Lily—on the successful submission of their HSC compositions, each reflecting originality and creativity. Benham’s work explored a variety of orchestral tone colours alongside shifts in texture and expression. The Music 2 cohort will present the performance component of their course on Monday next week. We thank the music staff, accompanists, and families who have supported the students on their musical journeys, and we are proud of their achievements across both courses.
