Music Making a Strong Start

Our ensemble program has started the year strongly, with rehearsals underway and students already making wonderful progress together. A special congratulations to Mr Jauregui, who has joined the team this year and has done an excellent job leading and supporting our ensembles. We are grateful for his energy and leadership as the groups get into the rhythm of the year. Being part of an ensemble is one of the most rewarding ways for students to develop their musical skills, teamwork and confidence. We warmly encourage parents to consider enrolling their child in one of our choirs, bands, string groups or guitar ensembles so they can be part of the vibrant musical life of the school. The Senior Stage Band, Senior Choir and Senior Concert Band performed brilliantly at our Open Day on Saturday. Their music created a wonderful atmosphere as guests arrived and explored the school. Thank you to all the students who gave up their time to be there — your diligence, enthusiasm, and bright, welcoming spirit made a terrific impression and helped showcase the strength of our performing arts program. We are very grateful for the way you represented the school on the day.

Strings Fiesta was a fantastic success! On Thursday of Week 5, students from five schools came together to form an impressive 90-piece string orchestra, led by renowned Sydney-based conductor David Saffir. Our String Orchestra took part in the event and performed three pieces with the combined ensemble. Throughout the rehearsal and performance, students gained valuable insights into balance, dynamics and bow control while experiencing the thrill of making music in such a large group. Well done to our students for representing the school so well and embracing this wonderful learning opportunity! Thank you to Thomas Hassall Anglican College for hosting this event.
