Junior School – T2 W2 2025

Term 2 has started with a steady stream of activity in Junior School.  On Monday, our Year 6 student leaders joined with student leaders from a number of other Anglican Schools to attend a Young Leaders Day—a special event designed to inspire and empower future leaders. With guest speakers sharing stories about courage, kindness, and resilience, students left feeling motivated and full of ideas to make a positive difference in our school. A key theme throughout the day was servant leadership—leading by serving others. Students learned that true leadership isn’t about being in charge, but about lifting others up, listening, and making choices that help everyone grow. We are excited to see how our young leaders will use this mindset in the classroom, on the playground, and in their wider community.

Our Kindergarten students had an exciting trip to the farm. They were able to milk a cow, watch a sheep shearing show, watch a working dog show, and have a tractor ride. The children were buzzing with excitement as they learned more about animals and where our food comes from. It was a wonderful way to bring their classroom learning to life.

On Thursday, students from years 3-6 participated in our annual Cross Country Carnival, showing amazing determination and sportsmanship as they ran. Whether sprinting for the finish line or cheering on friends, everyone played their part. Congratulations to our age group winners and to all students for giving it their best.

During the school holidays, a number of Oran Park students from both Junior and Senior school represented the College in Camden at the ANZAC Day march. Last Friday, we gathered as a Junior School to commemorate ANZAC Day with a thoughtful and respectful ceremony. Our Mr Przydacz led students and teachers in a time of reflection, the playing of The Last Post, and a moment of silence to honour those who served and sacrificed. As we remembered those who gave their lives, we reflected on the deeper meaning of service—putting others before yourself. The ANZAC spirit is a powerful example of serving others with courage, humility, and love for one’s community. We also reflected on the sacrifice of Jesus’ death on the cross – He gave his life so that we could have a relationship with God.

Our Year 5 students had a fantastic opportunity to experience a day in the life of a senior school student during Taster Day this week. They explored specialist subjects like Science, Food Technology, Visual Arts and Digital Technology. It was an exciting and eye-opening experience that gave them a glimpse of what lies ahead—and many left feeling confident and eager for the journey into Senior School.

We ended this week on a heartfelt note with our Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday morning. It was so special to welcome mums, grandmothers, and carers to the College for a delicious breakfast shared with their children. The atmosphere was full of joy, laughter, and love. Thank you to everyone who attended—and to our staff who helped make the morning so meaningful. Thank you also to our P and F for organising and running the Mother’s Day Stall this week. We wish all our mums a very happy and well-deserved Mother’s Day!

Term 2 is going to be an exciting one – please keep checking the Parent App for notice of upcoming events.

God bless,
