Duke of Ed Spotlight – T3 W4 2025

Adventurers Prepare for the Challenge

This term, over 30 students from our school have taken their first steps towards completing their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards. On Monday, participants gathered in H1 for their initial briefing, marking the start of an exciting journey that will test their resilience, teamwork, and determination.

During this first meeting, students discussed their personal goals for the Award, began planning their upcoming expeditions, and considered the essential equipment they’ll need for a safe and successful trip. Over the coming weeks, the group will continue to meet regularly to learn basic first aid, review safety requirements, and prepare for the unique challenges of hiking in the Australian bush.

The much-anticipated hike will take place in Week 8, taking students into the breathtaking landscapes of the Royal National Park. Bronze participants will set out from Watamolla, following part of the famous Coastal Track to Bundeena before continuing on to Audley. Silver participants will add an extra night to their adventure, exploring further into the park and experiencing more of its natural beauty.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is about more than just the hike – it’s about building skills, developing independence, and stepping outside comfort zones. Our students have already shown great enthusiasm and a willingness to support one another as they prepare. We look forward to seeing them rise to the challenge and create memories that will last a lifetime.

God bless,
