Growing Together Through Peer Support
As we settle into Term 3, our Junior School continues to thrive on the values of kindness, collaboration, and community. One of the ways we nurture these values is through our Peer Support Program – a program designed to strengthen student wellbeing and leadership development.
Peer Support is a structured program where our Year 5 are trained by teachers to guide younger peers through activities that promote friendship, resilience, and positive communication. These sessions are designed to be fun, inclusive, and meaningful, helping students build strong relationships across year levels.
Peer Support offers a range of benefits for both older and younger students. Our Year 5 students develop confidence and responsibility as they lead activities and model positive behaviours. Every student learns to express themselves clearly, listen actively, and collaborate respectfully. Younger students feel supported and connected within the Junior School community, reducing feelings of isolation. Through shared experiences, students build resilience and learn strategies to manage emotions and challenges. The activities planned for Peer Support time are designed to be enjoyable, helping students associate school with positive experiences. We have run this program for a number of years now, and each year we notice the way our Year 5 students step up to take responsibility and show leadership. Peer Support provides a fabulous opportunity for all our students to grow together and support one another.
This term, our Peer Support sessions will focus on helping students think through the ideas and strategies we have been introducing in our URStrong friendship skills program. I would encourage you to ask your children each week what they have been learning during Peer Support. If you are keen to find out about the URStrong program and how it supports children, please contact Mr Przydacz for more information.
We are looking forward to another term of exciting events and celebrations. We are celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten, Multicultural Day, Father’s Day and Book Week in the coming weeks. Please ensure that you are checking the Parent App for details as the term progresses.

God bless,
