Turning Pages and Pursuing Excellence
Welcome to Term 3. As we begin another exciting term of learning, I am delighted to welcome our students and families back to what promises to be a busy and rewarding season in the Junior School.
Throughout Term 3, our focus will be on the Habits of Powerful Learners value of Craftsmanship, encouraging students to develop an understanding of what it means to take pride in their work, strive for excellence, show precision and continually refine their learning. Students will explore the dispositions that sit within this core value and be challenged to apply them across all areas of school life. This focus aligns with our commitment to developing learners who are reflective and committed to producing their very best.
One of the highlights of the term will be the launch of the inaugural OPAC Read-A-Thon. We are excited to encourage our students to immerse themselves in books, discover new genres and develop a lifelong love of reading. Students will record the books they read throughout the challenge, with those logging the most books before the closing date on Friday of Week 6 being recognised and celebrated at our Book Parade in Week 7.
This term also provides wonderful opportunities for students to broaden their understanding of the world around them. Through music, visual arts, dance and inquiry learning experiences embedded within programs, students will explore a variety of cultures and traditions, building appreciation, understanding and respect for others. These learning experiences will culminate in our Multicultural Day in Week 5, where we will celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our College community so vibrant and unique.
With many exciting events and learning opportunities ahead, Term 3 promises to be a wonderful journey of discovery, growth and connection. We look forward to partnering with families as we support our students in embracing every opportunity to flourish.
God bless,
Mrs Kathryn Watkins
