A Strong Start to Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2! We have an exciting and busy term ahead, and it has certainly started well.

Cross Country

Last week, our Cross Country Carnival was held for students in Years 3–6. It was fantastic to see so many students challenging themselves and striving to do their very best. A big thank you to Mr Cleur and his team for the excellent organisation and smooth running of the event. We are proud to have a strong team heading off to the CSSA State Cross Country in a couple of weeks’ time and wish them all the very best.

Kindy visits a Farm

On Friday, our Kindergarten students enjoyed a fabulous excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm, where they spent the day bringing their classroom learning to life through hands-on experiences. It was a busy day full of discovery and excitement.

Year 3 Day Camp

Also on Friday, our Year 3 students travelled to Wedderburn for their annual Day Camp. Students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones as they participated in activities such as rock climbing, high ropes and a range of team-building challenges. All activities were conducted under the careful supervision of the Wedderburn staff and our dedicated class teachers.

ANZAC Day

We are also proud of our students who represented the College at the ANZAC Ceremony in Camden last Saturday morning. In addition, on Wednesday morning this week, students from Years 4–6 joined the Senior School in laying wreaths and pausing to reflect on conflict and reconciliation during the College ANZAC Ceremony.

Reading Workshop

On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Watkins, Mrs Swan and Mrs Grant spoke to parents about how to help children start their reading journey well. Mrs Watkins and Mrs Swan explained the science and research behind how we learn to read and Mrs Grant provided some helpful practical tips on how to help children when they are reading at home.

Parent Connect Night

Our first Parent Connect Night was held on Thursday night. This has been designed by the P and F to become a regular gathering to support parents as they travel the parenting journey together. Thank you to those parents from across Junior and Senior School who attended and we look forward to welcoming you back for the Term 3 catch up. Please look out for advertising towards the end of Term 2.

Uniform

Finally, a uniform reminder as the weather begins to change: full winter uniform is to be worn between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Please refer to the Uniform Guidelines on the College website for details and remember that the College tracksuit jacket is only to be worn as part of the sports uniform.

Term 2 is shaping up to be a full term of events and opportunities for students to learn and grow together. Please keep checking the App and Junior School Weekly Reminders for further details.

God bless,

Mrs Jenny Squire
Deputy Principal – Head of Junior School
