A Term of Powerful Learning

As we reach the end of Term 1 and prepare for the Easter break, it is a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on the moments of growth that have taken place across our school community.

Living as Powerful Learners

Our students have embraced learning with enthusiasm and determination, demonstrating that they are truly Powerful Learners. Across classrooms, playgrounds and the sporting field, we have seen students display courage by taking risks in their learning, having a go even when tasks felt challenging, and confidently sharing their ideas. Curiosity has shone through as students have asked thoughtful questions, explored new concepts and engaged deeply with their learning.

We have also seen strong examples of collaboration, with students working together respectfully, listening to different perspectives and supporting one another to achieve shared goals. Just as importantly, our students have demonstrated compassion by showing kindness, empathy and care for others in both big and small ways each day. These values strengthen our school culture and reflect what it means to be a caring and connected community, and we have acknowledged this in our Recognition Awards Assembly this week.

The Easter Message

Easter reminds us of Jesus’ death on the cross and His great love for us, making a way for us to be in relationship with God. As we reflect on this powerful message of sacrifice, hope and new life, we are encouraged to live with love, forgiveness and compassion towards others. Our Easter Chapel and Hat Parade next Thursday will help us to focus on this as a Junior School community. Families are welcome to join us for the Chapel, Hat Parade and BYO Picnic lunch in the Junior School playground. Gates will open at 10:50am, with the Chapel and Hat Parade starting at 11:00am in the MPH. The picnic will conclude at 1:30pm.

As students head into a well‑earned break, we encourage families to take time to rest, reconnect and reflect together on the meaning of Easter. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the learning adventures of Term 2.

God bless,

Sport

Share Student Achievements

We are always pleased to hear about outstanding student achievements in sport. If your child has recently achieved success at a representative, state or national level, whether through the College or externally, please contact Mr Cleur at jcleur@opac.nsw.edu.au with a brief summary and, if applicable, a photo for consideration in the newsletter.

Student Achievement - NSWPSSA

Congratulations to Noah J (Year 5), who recently represented the College at the NSWPSSA Swimming Championships (CIS level). Noah competed exceptionally well, demonstrating determination, skill, and composure against some of the strongest swimmers in the state. He represented Oran Park Anglican College with pride, and we congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.

College Sport

Our College Sport program continues to provide students with valuable opportunities to learn, develop skills, and enjoy a wide range of sporting experiences. This term, students have been participating in AUSISO (Australian International Sports Organisation) sessions, including AFL and Softball/T-Ball. It has been great to see students building confidence, learning new skills, and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout these activities.

IPSSO Sport Program

Our Wednesday IPSSO Sport Competition continues to provide students with great opportunities to represent the College and develop teamwork, resilience, skill, and sportsmanship. It has been fantastic to see all of our teams performing strongly and supporting one another throughout the season.

Week 9 – Wednesday (Home Match)

  • Opponent: St Gregory’s College
  • Oz-Tag & Cricket: Clark Reserve – 13 St Lawrence Ave, Kearns
  • Soccer & Basketball: Oran Park Anglican College

We look forward to another great week of competition and thank all staff, students, and families for their ongoing support.

Representative Sport Pathways

From time to time, the College is able to nominate some of our exceptional athletes to trial for CSSA or CIS representative teams. These teams are selected for high level representative competitions, drawing from almost 100 schools across NSW. If you would like the College to nominate your child for one of these events, please follow the procedure below:

  1. Go to CSSA website to see the list and dates of these trials (cssa.net.au)
  2. Email Mr Cleur’s email jcleur@opac.nsw.edu.au, expressing your child’s interest, background and skills in the sport
  3. If they fit the requirements of the trials, they will be nominated to attend
  4. Attend the trials with your child

Note: if your child is currently a representative-level player in any sport and wishes to nominate themselves to represent Oran Park Anglican College, please get in touch with Mr Cleur (jcleur@opac.nsw.edu.au) to discuss the next steps.

God bless,

Mr Judah Cleur
