Compassion in Action - Toys ‘n’ Tucker

One of our five College values is ‘Compassion’—a call to see the needs of others and respond with kindness and care. This term, our students have been putting compassion into action through their involvement in Toys ‘n’ Tucker, an initiative run by Anglicare to support families who are doing it tough this Christmas.

Across our Junior School, students have been collecting donations of toys, non-perishable food items, and festive treats. These gifts will bring joy and relief to households who might otherwise struggle during the holiday season. It’s a beautiful reminder that even small acts of generosity can make a big difference.

This initiative also connects with our learner disposition of ‘Gratitude’, which we describe as “counting our blessings.” When we pause to reflect on what we have, it inspires us to share with others. Our students have shown that gratitude and compassion go hand in hand—recognising our blessings and using them to bless others.

The Bible reminds us of this calling in Hebrews 13:16:
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
This verse captures the heart of Toys ‘n’ Tucker—sharing what we have to care for those less fortunate.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our families for your incredible generosity. Your willingness to give has been a blessing to those in need and a powerful example for our students. We also acknowledge our parent volunteers and student leaders who have helped to sort and pack the donated items. Your servant-heartedness ensures these gifts will reach the right hands in time for Christmas.

As we approach Christmas time, may we continue to live out compassion and gratitude—not just in words, but in action. Together, we are making a difference in our community.

God bless,
